Temporary buildings and industrial canopies are highly durable, low maintenance structures with a long lifespan. We explain your options if you need to refurbish, remove, extend, relocate or replace sections of a temporary building. We also explain the repair process, should your temporary building be accidentally damaged and the maintenance tasks to keep your structure in the best possible condition.

If you need to repair or replace sections of your structure, our knowledgeable team will initially assess the building from a few photographs. After the desktop inspection, we will visit the building to conduct a comprehensive appraisal to recommend the next steps, be that a repair or replacement.
In our experience, one of the biggest causes of damage to temporary buildings is general wear, together with accidental vehicle damage. There are several preventative measures to avoid this including, installing safety barriers or column protectors. However, from time-to-time accidents do happen. In most cases a simple repair can be completed by replacing a panel or a section of PVC. As temporary buildings are modular, damaged panels and PVC sections can be removed and replaced easily.
Our temporary buildings are engineered to meet industry leading standards including British Quality Standards. As part of the design and engineering process, wind and snow loading calculations should be conducted to prevent weather damage. Where calculations haven’t been completed correctly, or if the PVC roof has not been maintained, there may be occasions, in extreme weather events, where damage can occur.
Should you need a PVC repair, we offer a full PVC repair and renewal service. The PVC used on our buildings is high-quality, flame retardant, highly tear-resistant and available in a range of material weights, typically 640 g/m2 or 680 g/m2.

A good example of our approach is the project we completed for Matalan. Their 17-year-old 25m x 30m storage building had been used as overflow storage space for cages, trollies, and tote boxes. Due to combination of heavy storms, a lapse in annual maintenance and vehicle damage it required temporary structure refurbishment to make the storage space safe, as well as new PVC covering to the roof and gables.
We attended site to carry out a full visual inspection of the structure and report back with findings to advise about the repair work needed. To provide a rapid solution, we temporarily recovered the structure with our existing stock. This enabled us to work with an expert supplier, sending the old PVC to the manufacturer, so that they could replicate new sections to the exact dimensions to avoid any complications further down the line. The refurbishment project was particularly challenging due to removing old, weathered PVC panels.
The client also requested us to dissemble and dispose of, the linked smaller 6m x 18m modular building, and close up the bays that this had been joined to. In addition, their existing double leaf doors were removed and replaced with new, complete with push bars, locks and closers.
One of the biggest benefits of a temporary structure is their flexibility. If your requirements change and you need to relocate your structure, they can be easily dismantled and moved to another part of your site or transferred to a different location.
Removing a temporary building is generally quicker than installation and our in-house team can dismantle a standard size temporary building within a day. Surface reinstatement can be completed to fill in any anchorage points.
Our buildings can be erected quickly, they are in the region of 70% cheaper than a traditional building and give you unmatched flexibility. They can adapt with your business over many years.

If your business needs change and you still require a temporary building, we can modify and adapt the structure. For example, if you have an open canopy, we can design and engineer a cladding solution to transform the structure into a fully enclosed warehouse or storage building.
If you currently have a storage tent and need to extend the life or durability of your structure, we can recover the building in industrial steel panelling, giving it a new lease of life. Other solutions include extending an additional temporary building to give you more space quickly or removing parts of a structure to make it smaller.
While maintenance is required to keep your building in the best possible condition it is minimal. In most cases a regular visual inspection can be completed to check that panels are secure, with no signs of movement and the PVC roof coverings are fully tensioned.
These simple routine checks will help identify any potential problems early. F&L Temporary buildings provide a complete maintenance service for all temporary buildings. We also recommend a comprehensive annual inspection.

You can schedule annual maintenance inspections with us to identify and address potential issues early, ensuring your building remains in optimal condition. This can include:
• Anchorage condition
• Checking and tensioning PVC
• Inspecting roller shutters, sliding gates and pedestrian doors
• If an insulated roof is used, we will check the condition of the air pump
• Inspecting gutters, ensuring they are clean and unobstructed
• Assessing bracing to ensure it is correctly tensioned
• Checking the condition of wall panels, trims and flashing
