A long-established builders merchant had seen a sustained increase in demand for board products. Their existing warehouse facilities were reaching capacity, and a growing proportion of stock had to be externally stored within their yard. While this allowed operations to continue, it left stock exposed to the elements and impacted site operations. They needed secure, dry and safe storage to protect their stock and keep operations moving freely.
The requirement was for a rapidly deployable, fully enclosed, weatherproof storage warehouse to protect their growing stock of sheet and board products. The structure needed to provide immediate additional covered storage capacity to prevent weather-related damage to moisture-sensitive boards and a clear internal height of 3.6m+ to allow three pallets to be safely stacked.

• A cost-effective alternative to a permanent build, without the delays associated with planning, groundworks, or traditional construction.
As the site was busy, the installation needed to be completed quickly to minimise disruption and rapidly protect their products.
We worked collaboratively with the client from the outset, beginning with a detailed site consultation, with one of our temporary building experts to assess the available footprint, ground conditions and the operational constraints.
During this visit, we reviewed the existing challenging and uneven surface to advice on the installation methodology while agreeing the best location for the structure, taking into account traffic flows and access points.
Within just four days, from initial enquiry, we had completed the site consultation and developed a bespoke building design. The structure we developed provided a 20m width with a 40m length, meeting the client required internal height clearance for pallet stacking. Once the design was finalised, we engaged with our temporary building planning consultants who supported the client through the full planning application process, to a successful outcome.
The new temporary warehouse gives the client 800m2 of uninterrupted clearspan warehouse space, with a ridge height of 8.54m. The building is fully enclosed for maximum weather protection and fitted with double sliding gates, delivering a 9.5m-wide opening for efficient forklift and vehicle movement, a key consideration for the type of product being stored within.
A white industrial-grade PVC roof system was selected to enhance natural light inside the building, creating a bright and practical working environment. To suit the mixed ground conditions, we specified steel pin anchorage, and where service drawings were unavailable, we coordinated the requirement for a geo-technical survey to ensure safe installation. Through this collaborative, consultative approach, we delivered a tailored warehouse solution that met all operational needs, protected their stock, and integrated seamlessly into their existing site.

Industrial grade T35 steel cladding, polyester coated on the outside and provided in client requested RAL colour, in keeping with existing buildings. This was also used on the upper gables.

Overall, the new warehouse has strengthened our clients operational resilience, increased storage capability, and provided a cost-effective, fast-delivery alternative to permanent construction, while supporting their continued growth and ensuring their stock remains protected year-round. The 4.5m leg height and generous internal clearance allow safe bulk stacking, maximising usable storage capacity. Despite challenging ground conditions, the project was installed safely and efficiently with minimal disruption to day-to-day operations.
