The Requirement

After receiving a phone call from a global supply chain solutions business requiring a modular building, we were tasked with designing and installing a bespoke solution to increase their bulk storage capacity. The bulk storage warehouse was to be robust, adaptable, and fully specified to support their logistical operations.

The Solutions

Our team conducted a site visit to help the client understand the benefits of a temporary building as this was their first time using a temporary building solution.

At the site visit, we completed a detailed options appraisal and provided early-stage advice on planning requirements for the structure. This collaborative process ensured that our proposal was bespoke, compliant and met all the client’s requirements. Following the appraisal, we developed the design, working through five options during the process to help the client arrive at the best possible solution.

In addition, to assist with planning approval, we included planning application support and engaged a trusted consultancy partner to make the process simple, ultimately achieving planning permission without any issues. We also provided technical drawings to support the application process.

Walling:

Single skin steel cladding (T35 Trapezoidal) RAL colour matched to client spec

Frame:

Aluminium clear-span structure with 4 channel aluminium extrusion beam

Doors:

A 4.8m (W) x 4.5m (H) manually operated sliding door with one 1.0m (W) x 2.0m (H) steel pedestrian door with a push bar, lock, and closer, serving as both an entrance and fire exit

Guttering:

160mm UPVC with 110mm downpipes

Roof:

Industrial PVC 650g /m2, non-flammable, fully tensioned

The results

The completed building has provided a large, open plan operational bulk storage warehouse giving a total of 375m2 (4,036 sq. ft.) of floor space, with a ridge height of 8.03m. The structure meets exacting quality standards including BS6399. This bespoke solution has provided a durable bulk storage warehouse designed to increase their capacity. By collaborating closely during the design and planning stages, we ensured our proposal was practical, cost-effective, and aligned with their operational goals, enabling the client to grow.
